Five Secrets of Sophomore Success

- Update your Action Plan (Microsoft Word Document) and double check your graduation requirements on Webadvisor before you meet with your advisor to discuss registration so that he/she will know what your plans are.
- Attend Dr. Thomas' post-graduation workshop in February or March. The exact time, date and place will be announced via email.
- Look into working for the Cresent, the Linc yearbook, or subject tutoring (foreign languages and the sciences often need tutors) so that you can gain some marketable skills. Talk to the professor who teaches a subject you like.
- Look into IBACE Business Certificate Program to gain management, accounting, and marketing skills. This certificate may help you land a museum, Cultural Resource Management, government or other job once you go on the job market. For more information ask your advisor.
- Consider starting a second major or minor. Do you want to pursue graduate school in classical archaeology? A classical studies major or minor will help you get into graduate school. Want to work in an artifacts lab? Try a chemistry major or minor. Does writing about science and archaeology appeal to you? Double major or minor with journalism or English.
