Conducting research and presenting your findings at an undergraduate conference is an excellent way to gain experience in the field and a spectacular item to add to your resume. Also, honors students are required to present their research and any of the opportunities listed below are suitable venues. To conduct and write up your own research properly, however, you should be starting the project anywhere from six to twelve months before the deadline for submissions is due.
UExplore Program: This is a grant to
fund research you would like to do with a professor.
National Conference
on Undergraduate Research: Present results of your research
at a notional conference at a fun city far from Evansville! The UExplore
program may provide you with funds to pay for the trip.
University of Miami (Ohio) Annual Undergraduate
Conference in Classics: A great opportunity for you to
present a paper on any classical topic (archaeology, philosophy, etc.)
at a fairly close venue.
Midwest Archaeological Conference: This
conference is aimed at professionals working in the historic and
prehistoric archaeology of the Midwest, but they have a student paper
contest. If you have written a paper on some aspect of Midwest
archaeology, try for the opportunity to present it here.
Aisthesis: The Undergraduate Journal:
Publish your senior thesis or that class paper you worked so much on in
an undergraduate journal! That will look spectacular on a graduate
school application. Aisthesis publishes papers on archaeological,
artistic, and classical subjects.
