The late Baroque period was effected by the many political and social changes. Louis XIV became King of France and immediately turned his attention to matters of culture because he wanted to create a visible association with the authority of the Roman Empire. His Ministry of Culture established stylistic rules and training for artists so that they would reflect Classical forms in their work.
