Proportion is the size relationships of the parts that make up a whole. For example, a bobble-head doll has an oversized head compared to its body. The parts are out of proportion compared to a real human being. African artists intentionally manipulated proportion to emphasize the personality of the individual rather than use perfect human proportions.
