During the Archaic Greek period the Greeks refined their culture and embarked in aggressive trade with other cultures along the Mediterranean. This work shows the development of more realistic images. The subject is of women weaving on a loom, a desirable activity because it equated to attractiveness; good weavers were desirable women.
