Project 12: Death and Rebirth (cycles)

Using your digital camera, capture images that relate to transition from one state to another. You need to set up a still life where you have complete control of:

  • lighting
  • background
  • objects/figures

It is a good idea to use a tripod to control your camera. You may want to approach the idea of still life like the artist Dornith Doherty:

Ms. Doherty's works are composed like a collage. She incorporates transparencies, found objects, and other photographs then merges them into a composition which she then shoots. No photo manipulation is used in Ms. Doherty's work, although it can be used within this assignment.

  1. 4 prints (300 dpi or more)-save to CD-ROM and print the images on photograde paper.
  2. minimum of four images on CD-ROM
  3. any size
