Claus Sluter, Well of Moses, 1395-1403

Although northern European artists produced significantly fewer sculpted works during the Renaissance, Claus Sluter stood out for the outstanding craftsmanship and naturalism in his work. Like most of the Northern Renaissance artists, Sluter’s works exhibit a pious theocentric character with an emphasis on Church imagery rather than the Classical.
