102-kandinsky

Day 21 Week 05

Wassily Kandinsky, Composition VII, 1913

Kandinsky believed that there was a link between the aesthetic experience and spiritual experience. He derived his visual ideas from non-visual sources and created his compositions by emulating the process that a composer uses to create a piece of music. In fact, he worked with Arnold Schoenberg, a composer who created music derived from visual forms, which complemented Kandinsky’s work.

Listen to a sample of Schoenberg’s music here.
