Art Studio Chalkboard Celebrates 24 Years

First introduced to the World Wide Web in 1995, the Art Studio Chalkboard has been a resource for artists and art students ever since. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the site. The site is undergoing a redesign for mobile devices. So, you can more easily access the site on smartphones and tablets. Thanks to all those who have used the site during the first 20 years!

Gateways to Art 3rd edition

Released October 2018, Gateways to Art 3rd edition is an updated version of the best-selling art text Gateways to Art, Understanding the Visual Arts originally published in 2011. This text features improved global coverage, updated imagery, and more contemporary art than the first edition. This edition also features InQuizitive, an interactive learning tool that can be paired with the print or e-text.

Biography

Ralph M. Larmann is a Professor of Art at the University of Evansville where he teaches painting and general art courses. Larmann grew up in the Cincinnati area and received his BFA from the University of Cincinnati and MFA from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Before coming to Evansville he taught at Loyola University Chicago, Herron School of Art/IUPUI, University of Cincinnati, and Southern Arkansas University. Larmann is a former President of the college art organization F.A.T.E. (Foundations in Art: Theory and Education) and is coauthor of Gateways to Art, published by Thames & Hudson in 2011. He is also the author of the Art Studio Chalkboard and Figure Drawing Lab, online art tutorials, and co-author of ArtExperience, a CD-ROM available through Cengage Publishing. Larmann’s art has been shown in a variety of venues in the United States and United Kingdom. He has received numerous awards and has work in a number of collections.
