If a student misses more than two scheduled class meetings, the final grade will be reduced one letter grade. Any student missing six or more unexcused absences will receive the grade of F. Late arrivals or early departures will be counted as one-half of an absence. Students must arrive before 8:07 am and be working until 9:48 am.

STUDIO WORK CRITERIA:
Each student must arrive prepared to work with appropriate materials for the assignment, project, exercise, critique, discussion, or demonstration for that particular class day. Unprepared students may receive an absence for the day. Students should keep attention on day's class work and have appropriate materials to work on other projects should they be needed.

OUTSIDE-OF-CLASS WORK:
Students should expect to spend approximately 9 hours per week in and outside of class working on assignments. The drawing studio, FA 216, is open for student use:

  • SUN: all regular Krannert Fine Arts Building hours.
  • MON: 10 am to building close
  • TUES: until 6 pm

CRITIQUES:
Attendance and active participation in critiques is critical to learning in the studio classroom. All students are expected to contribute verbally by commenting or questioning aspects of the work being critiqued. Students should also add to discussions.

COMPLETION OF ASSIGNMENTS:
Late assignments will receive a one-letter grade reduction. Unfinished work will not be accepted. All course work is expected to be finished and submitted for credit by the stated deadline.

CLEAN UP:
All students are responsible for organization and clean up of the studio classroom. Any student who leaves their work area unkept will be assessed one-half absence.

PLAGIARISM:
Any work that is directly derived from other students' work or ideas may be interpreted as a violation of the Honor Code.

SAFETY AND ETIQUETTE:
Students are expected to follow safety instructions and conduct themselves in a way that is respectful to others. This includes disposing of materials properly, clean up of shared spaces, be careful of other students' paintings, respect the wishes of others regarding their work.
