Human genetics deals with issues that affect each of our lives, regardless of our academic interests or long-term goals. Modern genetics has medical, social, legal, and moral ramifications. The major emphasis of this course is to provide biological background to better understand human genetics and to make informed judgments about certain medical and social issues related to genetics. The course consists of lecture/discussions, writing assignments, quizzes, three one-hour exams, and a cumulative final exam.
