MUS 260, 261 Suzuki Pedagogy I,
II (2 each) An in-depth study of
the philosophy and pedagogy of the Suzuki Talent Education Method
founded by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Course content includes the repertoire
contained in the Foundation Units as outlined in the Suzuki Association
of the Americas' Teacher Development Document (1990). Emphasis
is on both pedagogical understanding and performance skills of
the repertoire. Must be taken in order unless special permission
is obtained from the instructor. Prerequisite: permission of
the instructor.
MUS 360, 361 Suzuki Pedagogy III,
IV (2 each) A continuation of the
study of the philosophy and pedagogy of the Suzuki Talent Education
Method founded by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. Prerequisite: Music
260, 261, or permission of the instructor.
MUS 460, 461 Suzuki Pedagogy V,
VI (1 each) Laboratory experience
in the University of Evansville Suzuki Talent Education Violin
Program offering the opportunity for supervised teaching experience.
Prerequisites: Music 260, 261,
360, 361.
MUS 474, 475 Pedagogy of the Applied
Major I, II (1 each) . Open to
music majors only.
