
William F. Brown is a Professor of Art at the University of Evansville. Before coming to Evansville in 1980, he taught at the universities in Illinois, Arkansas, and West Virginia. Prior to teaching, Mr. Brown worked as a commercial artist for six years in Chicago, holding various positions. During that time, his illustrations and photographs appeared in numerous publications such as The Chicago Guide, The Chicago Tribune, and The Daily News.
Mr. Brown received his B.S. from Indiana State University in Terre Haute and his M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has an extensive exhibition record as a painter, draftsman, and photographer, with some recent showings in Louisville, Owensboro, Jasper, Terre Haute, Indianapolis, and Dayton Ohio.
Mr. Brown's work is included in numerous private and corporate collections. Some major corporate collections include: Ashland Oil of Kentucky, Yale/South Haven of Illinois, Sheldon Swope Gallery of Terre Haute, Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts, National City Bank in New Albany, CBIS of Cincinnati, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Deaconess Hospital, Citizens Bank, American General Finance, Welborn Hospital, Columbia Medical Building, Methodist Temple, Fine and Hatfield, Artisan Sheet Metal, National City Bank, Edmond Hafer Associates and Solarbron Pointe, all of Evansville.
